Week 88: Saying Goodbye to President & Sister Francis

Hey!

Sorry I’m writing so late today. President and Sister Francis are being released on Thursday so we had a get together so everyone could say their goodbyes. We ate snacks, played basketball and played a few card games. It was a lot of fun to have the whole mission together in one place. Once it was time to wrap things up we ended the meeting by singing Called To Serve. I still can’t believe they’re being released and we’re getting a new mission president. It was hard to say goodbye. I’m grateful for him and for his influence. The last thing he said to me was that great things will come from my mission.

President and Sister Evans will arrive on Thursday. I’m looking forward to getting to know them over the three transfers I have left.

We did a lot of community service throughout the week- mainly at senior centers in Spencerport, North Chili, and Brockport. It’s really important for missionaries to reach out in communities because it not only gives us the opportunity to get to know people but it’s also a time for them to get to know us.

The ward has been focusing on finding lost sheep recently. We started a new project which will involve the ward council making a lot of evening visits to less active members. We will be pretty busy, which I’m excited about!

We taught a really nice less active member a couple days ago. She is originally from Canada. We taught her about the importance of renewing our covenants. We also taught that by doing small and simple things, such as daily prayer and scripture study, our testimonies will grow stronger and stronger each day. She really seemed to take an interest in what we were teaching and agreed to the commitments we gave her.

Three transfers left! I can’t wait to give you all the biggest hug. :)

I love and miss you all very much,

Elder Peterson
